House Martin - Delichon urbicum

Pictures - John Foss

The House Martin is widespread throughout the Algarve during summer where its nest, made with mud, is a common sight under the eaves of houses in every town and village. House Martins feed almost exclusively on flying insects. The specimens on this page were photographed at a nest colony in Alvor Town, and collecting nest material in Praia Da Rocha.
