The Oystercatcher is an unmistakeable, bulky, black and white wader with red bill and pink legs.  A winter visitor to the sea coast of the Algarve.

The white ‘choker’ is a feature of winter plumage while the dark tip to the bill and the
brown tinge to the black upperparts denote this bird is in its first winter.
