Zitting Cisticola - Cisticola juncidis

Pictures - John Foss

The Zitting Cisticola is often first noticed in flight as it circles overhead with a distinctive dipping motion, and making regular "zitting" calls at the peaks between dips. Difficult to photograph, Zitting Cisticolas do not stay in the same place for long. They frequent open land, grasslands, grassy coastal plains and salt marshes. The specimens on this page were photographed at Praia Da Rocha, Lagoa dos Salgados and Cabanas De Tavira.
